Best of 2015

Let's compile the "Best of" book lists we run across.

(Speaking of best books of 2015, I don't know who gave me Station Eleven, but I cannot put it down.  I had a big reading year, and that book just slipped into the top five this past week.)

Science Friday's Best Science books of 2015  I'm not sure but I think this is an audio file.  I have to try it out.
I admire Maria Popova and Brainpickings. This list is solid.

And looking ahead...Book Riot previews fifteen books coming out in 2016.
This is a work in progress.  I'll keep working on it.

A Feminist Divorcee's Reading List

Just ran across this Book Riot list for feminist divorcees, and had to share.

Another Suggestion

Voted Book of the Year in the UK:  The Ocean at the End of the Lane, Neil Gaiman

Fletcher's picks for 2016

A list of book ideas for 2016

The Notorious RBG, Irin Carmon & Shana Knizhnik
There is a story about how Ruth Bader Ginsburg made Bill Clinton cry, and that is really why I pre-ordered the book.

The Book of Unknown Americans, Cristina Henriquez

Prayers for the Stolen, Jennifer Clement

Salvage the Bones, Jesmyn Ward

Come Together, Fall Apart, Cristina Henriquez

God Help the Child,  Toni Morrison

The MaddAdam Trilogy, by Margaret Atwood

  • Oryx and Crake
    • I have to admit that I just recently read this, and it made me sick and upset, nauseated even, but it was also funny and beautifully written, so what do you do with a book like that?  I'm teetering on the edge of starting The Year of the Flood, or abandoning the trilogy altogether.
  • The Year of the Flood
  • MaddAddam ("EXTINCTATHON, Monitored by MaddAddam.  Adam named the living animals, MaddAddam names the dead ones. Do you want to play?").
Just some ideas.  Let's all put our suggestions up here.
